Author of the exhibition catalogue Picasso the Collector (Munich, 1998), Hélène Klein was formerly Chief Curator of the Musée Picasso, Paris. In her lecture she discussed works of art collected by Picasso, focusing on his taste for the art of Africa and Oceania.
The series of lectures ‘Picasso and Africa. Convergences’ was a complement to the exhibition Picasso. Small Figure. The Collection in Context. Scholars dedicated to Picasso and, in particular, to the influences it received from African culture, discussed their latest research and conclusions on the matter.
