Artists / Critics A Theoretical Approach
April 27, 2011
Seminar
Speakers: Manel Clot Fernando Huici Ángel Luis Pérez Villén Kevin Power
To coincide with the exhibition Kippenberger Meets Picasso, Museo Picasso Málaga organized the seminar Success and Failure in 80s Painting. The event brought together a number of protagonists of the 1980s art scene in order to find out what went on, based on their own personal account of the period. Those attending were able to consider it as an attempt at a collective memory exercise by art critics, gallerists and artists within our own cultural context.
Coordinated by arts manager Pedro Pizarro, the three consecutive sessions provided an opportunity to listen to analysis by art critics, gallerists, arts agents and artists, who assessed what the period meant for Spanish art and how it succeeded, or failed, to achieve its “normalization” on the international art scene.
