José Iges talks about and reproduces the musical minimalism of Riley, Reich and Glass

Given the relationship and proximity of Bruce Nauman’s work with what is known generically as minimalist music, along with the influence of this music and the artist’s own identification with it, artist and composer José Igés will be leading a session on the subject of this generation of musicians, with a talk-listening-narration.

José Iges (Madrid, 1951) is a multidisciplinary sound artist and composer. He is an industrial engineer and holds a PhD in Information Science. Between 1985 and 2008 he directed the Ars Sonora programme on Radio Nacional de España’s Radio Clásica station. He has performed live as an electro-acoustic musician with several groups since the 1980s,and has composed works recorded on tape and digital and electroacoustic media with instrumental soloists and groups. He has also given workshops and talks on sound art and radio art. He uses voices, water sounds, everyday sounds and sounds of specific places in his compositions, as well as musical instruments.
