In the Light of Picasso

The area around Málaga cathedral in the city centre, near the Museo Picasso Málaga, will be illuminated with the magic of light painting by the Children Of Darklight group. This artistic experience merges Picasso’s approach with contemporary creativity, paying tribute to the iconic light paintings created by Picasso and Djon Mili in 1949.

A far cry from the sometimes-imposing distance of stages and art galleries, In the Light of Picasso turns participants into artist who use the trail of a LED light to produce their own improvised creations. The resulting work is immortalised in a photograph in its maker’s presence by means of a portrait of superimposed light. The activity is accompanied by a live session by DJ David Longoria.

Children of Darklight started out as a light painting art group in 2009, and is headed by Asturian light painter Frodo Álvarez DKL. In 2012 it began exploring the world of events, designing many pioneering light painting actions and experiences for all kinds of clients and audiences, as well as participatory sessions and shows, among others.

The combination of art, technology and innovation converts actions into incredible experiences that are full of emotions for the participants, creating excitement and indelible memories in events all over the world. The success of their actions and pioneering experience has made Children of Darklight a leading name in the sector and has earned them several prizes.

The group is made up of veteran artists Xandra Lunar, Iris Shyroii, Isaac F. García and Edna Melantouche, acclaimed international DJ David Longoria, and Rubén Campos.
