Speaker: Werner Spies
Werner Spies, who is a professor at the Düsseldorf Academy of Art, will share his personal view of the work of Max Ernst. He was a personal friend of the artist and is the world’s foremost expert on his work. Spies has organized numerous major exhibitions in Europe, and has published widely on 20th-century art, notably on the Surrealist movement. He is the general editor of the Max Ernst catalogue raisonné and the author of Max Ernst Collages, published by Thames & Hudson.
The lecture was part of the cycle running parallel to the exhibition Beyond Painting. Max Ernst in the Würth Collection, and had been organized in collaboration with the Centre allemand d’histoire de l’art in Paris and the Universidad de Málaga.
The lecture was given in German. Translation service into Spanish was available.
