MIQUEL BARCELÓ. ÁFRICA FANTASMAL

December 9, 2020

Part of ‘The Other Museum’ activities programme

Museo Picasso Málaga is presenting a debate on the following questions, looking at the issue of Africa and immigration, which is also related to the work of Miquel Barceló.

Why do we know so little about the two Africas – the one that is 14km away, and the other lying hidden amongst us? Do we consider Africa an uncertain and dangerous place? Is the solution just ethics? Or could aesthetics and everything it involves help to overcome this prejudice? In the U.S., the anti-racist and African American vindication movement is having a large impact right now, even on culture. Is anything similar detectable in Africa? Is religion an obstacle to common improvement?

This event will include a screening of the short film Pour Une Hospitalité Manifeste (5’), directed by Isaki Lacuesta.

Isidro López Aparicio, artist and teacher of fine arts at Universidad de Granada.

Ana Salinas, professor of international law, UMA.
