On the Verge of the Unspeakable
Oct 28, 2023
Al límite de lo indecible (On the Verge of the Unspeakable) is an improvised and interactive poetic action in which prominence is given to words, action and conversation between the audience, the work and the artist, paying tribute to Pablo Picasso’s poetry.
Using a typewriter and taking as a basis experiences that are shared by the audience, the poets will improvise in different formats, recalling the poems written by the Malaga-born artist on old newspapers and recycled sheets of paper, among other supports. Once the poem has been written, the audience then have the opportunity to produce their own poems with a series of stamps and pictorial motifs taken from Picasso’s oeuvre, turning the sheet into a direct conversation between the spoken and the unspeakable.
Hablalatinta is poetry, movement and listening. After years of outdoor work in which communication and direct conversation with the public were their chief source of inspiration, Hablalatinta was established to propose spaces for engaging in interactive, spontaneous, intimate and immersive literary actions with the ultimate aim of returning poetry to its popular roots, vindicating the word in all kinds of settings. They set out to communicate, be moved and have fun, offering a simple, sincere and transcendental approach, devising performative actions, workshops, shows and events where the improvised, written and recited word is accessible and universal. Hablalatinta is made up of poets Álvaro Piedelobo, Pablo Urizal and Paula Carrillo and visual artist Marta Herrera.
