THE BEAUTY OF MATHEMATICS
November 11, 2020
Part of ‘The Other Museum’ activities programme
How can we define beauty? Is beauty a quality of nature? Or is it an artificial concept created by human beings? Does the idea of beauty consist of an exact proportion, or is disorganized, asymmetrical, imperfect, or organic beauty possible? The Golden Ratio is a canon employed since classical antiquity as an indicator of perfection. We can find the Golden Ratio – also known as the Divine Proportion – in nature, as well as in the human body.
