Foundation

The Museo Picasso Málaga is managed by Fundación Museo Picasso Málaga. Legado Paul, Christine y Bernard Ruiz-Picasso, the private foundation that owns the collection, the museum’s assets and Buenavista Palace, home of the institution.

The foundation’s purpose is to ensure that Pablo Picasso’s work is preserved, exhibited, studied and shared via the Museo Picasso Málaga, and to make the museum a vibrant cultural and social catalyst and platform where citizens can come not only to enjoy heritage, but also to participate in learning activities and benefit from social services. With the continued collaboration of Fundación Almine y Bernard Ruiz-Picasso, the international character of the institution is reinforced.

The foundation is governed by a board of twenty-two trustees, who receive no financial compensation for their services. The President of the Regional Government of Andalusia and Christine Ruiz-Picasso are honorary presidents. The Regional Minister of Culture and Sport of Andalusia chairs the board, and there are three lifetime trustees: Christine and Bernard Ruiz Picasso and Juan Alfonso Martos.
