Coinciding with the exhibition Picasso. Toros, on view from April 1st until July 3rd, the Museo Picasso Málaga has organised a series of lectures to be held at the Museum Auditorium every Thursday in April and May at 7 p.m. Tomàs Llorens, Chief Curator of the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza, Madrid, is scheduled to inaugurate the series with a lecture entitled “Picasso, Bullfights 1934-1935” on Thursday,
Throughout the subsequent weeks, the subject of tauromachy in the work of Picasso will be discussed by Marie Laure Bernadac, Chief Curator of Contemporary Art at the Musée du Louvre, Paris";" Dominique Dupuis-Labbé, Curator of the Musée National Picasso, Paris";" Álvaro Martínez-Novillo, from the Instituto del Patrimonio Histórico Español";" Pedro Romero de Solís, Professor at the University of Seville";" and Brigitte Léal, Chief Curator of Historical Collections at the Musée National Centre d’Art Georges Pompidou, Paris.
The six speakers have been invited to lecture not only because of their unquestionable expertise in the History of Art, but also because of their involvement in the most significant publications and exhibitions on this subject both in Spain and France in the past twenty years.
