Picasso and Printmaking

Oct 22, 2024 —— Mar 21, 2027

This is a space where visitors to the museum can immerse themselves in the fascinating artistic process of printmaking, exploring its techniques and types, as well as its connection with Picasso’s work. The main feature of this space is the press, used mainly for printing copperplate engravings, which belonged to brothers Piero and Aldo Crommelynck. In 1963 Picasso resumed his collaboration with them, giving rise to a vast number of proofs, variants and repetitions, the results of which he was able to observe in record time.

Other intaglio tools, prints and reproductions in techniques such as drypoint, etching, lithography and sugar aquatint are also displayed in this space. All these techniques were used by Picasso, who came to be considered one of the greatest and most prolific printmakers in the history of art, along with Dürer, Rembrandt and Goya.
