SDG 7: Affordable and clean energy

‘Affordable and clean energy’ is the theme of Sustainable Development Goal number 7 (SDG7). Pedro Linares, Professor of Industrial Engineering at the ICAI School of Engineering, director of the BP Chair on Energy and Sustainability, and cofounder and director of Economics for Energy, analyses some of the challenges set out by the UN in connection with this goal between now and 2030. They include how to ensure universal access to affordable, reliable and modern energy sources, how to substantially increase the share of renewable energy in the mix, and how to double the global rate of improvement in energy efficiency.
