Conversations with… Lorea Alfaro
Sep 19, 2024
Lorea Alfaro is taking part in Conversations with…, a series in which the Museo Picasso Málaga invites specialists from different fields of knowledge to offer their particular view of the temporary exhibitions.
On this occasion, Lorea Alfaro is giving a talk in the form of a guided tour, with commentary, of the exhibition María Blanchard. A Painter in Spite of Cubism, from an artist’s viewpoint. Alfaro will share materials, readings and works of her own to survey Blanchard’s oeuvre from the practice of art.
The Navarra-born artist takes as a starting point the last words Lorca dedicated to Blanchard: ‘Because you were a hunchback, so what? Men don’t understand things much and I’m telling you, María Blanchard, as a friend of your shadow, that you had the loveliest mane of hair there ever was in Spain’.
Lorea Alfaro is an artist. In 2014 she set up L/\ (3l3a), a space designed to create a protected environment for generating images. Her work is characterised by allowing a calm, bare and straightforward beauty to emerge.
